Office Assistant: UO Women\'s Center
| Purpose | As an office assistant in the Women’s Center you will work as part of a staff, which includes 4-6 work study students and 10 student coordinators, under the direction of the Women’s Center Director and Office Coordinator. Continuous training of staff is provided; you do not need to have all the skills listed here before you come to work. | |

| Principle Functions: |
• Serve as a greeter in the Women’s Center by: - providing support, information and referrals and explain our services - being up to date on Women’s Center events in order to provide necessary information - being aware of what visitors want and need - maintaining the social area - offering a hospitable and problem-solving attitude to visitors - assisting visitors who use the Women’s Center library - keeping a daily log of services provided. • Answer telephones and provide necessary information and referrals to callers. • Provide assistance to staff by: - photocopying - delivering, picking up, or posting materials on campus - typing - assisting with mailings - maintaining the Jobs binder - keeping the bulletin board information current - working on special projects • Manage volunteer recruitment and retention • Assists with advertising for all center-related events - Posting fliers throughout all campus building - Ground Staking • Attend mandatory budget hearing during Winter term. • Develop budget request and defend for upcoming year (winter term) • Attend three mandatory staff trainings/retreats (one per term) • Fall – October 2-4, 2009 • Winter – January 9, 2010 10 – 4 p.m. • Spring – June 5, 2010 12 – 4 p.m. |

| Requirements: |
• Ability to work with and accept people from diverse backgrounds; to work under occasional time pressure; to listen, communicate and write effectively; to take directions and follow through on projects and assignments; to have self-initiative; to meet time commitments on scheduled work hours; to attend weekly staff meetings and occasional training sessions. • Must have a personal commitment and sensitivity to creating a welcoming environment for all women (including, but not limited to, women of color, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer women, nontraditional students, international women, mothers, disabled women and members of all religious and ethnic groups). • Education in or commitment to women’s issues is preferred. |
